The Proper Way to Plant Trees

No, that is not a metaphor for growing your company or building community...this article really is about the proper way to plant trees. I personally like to putter around my garden (because a garden is one of the few places you can putter around -- I would say it is the #2 place to putter around, after the house). One of the things I am trying to do is grow some madrones. I order them from Forest Farm in one-gallon pots, but the success rate on transplanting them is only about one in three. I just planted a couple last week and on one the root ball fell apart when I took it out of the pot. So it was encouraging to read that this might actually be the right thing to do.
