There's a new entry in the "anonymous, wise-crackin' Microsoft blogger" territory that was staked out by Mini-Microsoft. He (She? Doubtful) blogs as the "Microsophist". According to the Wikipedia, sophist is a "derogatory term for rhetoric that is designed to appeal to the listener on grounds other than the strict logical validity of the statements being made". In other words, it's a blogger. Meanwhile, our crack research team has burped up the fact that "Microsophist" is an acronym for "OO, MR. PC IS SHIT".

Which is appropriate, since the Soph-Meister has chosen the ouster of Bill and Steve as his guiding principle. Meanwhile, Mini-Microsoft wants to jettison middle management. One of them needs to slow down or it will just be Vice Presidents and bloggers left.

If I had to pick, I would keep Bill and Steve. Someone sent me email pointing out that Steve had given money to lots of Republican causes. But I continue to believe (possibly naively) that Bill and Steve do, in their heart of hearts, want to do the right thing.

Nothin' wrong with being Republican. It's like using the Force. There are some Republicans that are good. There are some Republicans that are evil.

Will this trend continue as another anonymous blogger "Demosoft" starts a rant-blog calling for a purge of Republican 'softies?

SteveB's personal political contributions and endorsements tend to align closely with what he perceives to be in Microsoft's best interest. Apparently they shifted significantly toward Republicans as a result of the antitrust case.
