MS to Get the Boot From MSNBC?
Drudge is reporting that MSNBC is going to change its name to plain old "The NBC News Channel". The channel was a joint venture between Microsoft and NBC, and the name was an amalgam of MSN (or maybe just plain MS) and NBC.It's not quite as rude as Time Warner evicting AOL from its name, but it does show that the Microsoft name may be losing its ability to impress. Although personally I think it's a stupid change, since people know it as MSNBC and don't really care what it means. NBC I think at some point changed the "meaning" of CNBC from Consumer News & Business Channel to Cable National Broadcasting Company, but did anybody notice?
